We have done bar work, practising different positions.

Jazz Lessons

We start with a warm up:

  • Jogging on the spot
  • Star Jumps
  • Twists
  • Plank
  • Press ups
  • Lunges
We had to learn the choreography for our One Short Day performance in two weeks:

In our musical theatre lesson, we had to create characters out of our names that were opposite to our personas. Mine was called Bertha, and she was kind of rude and bitchy, and didn't really pay attention to other people. We had to do two minutes of improvisation after creating our characters.

12/10/18

New choreographed piece to 'Praying' by Kesha.

Musical theatre lesson: We were put into groups of three and created a short choreographed dance to one of our favourite musical songs. My group chose 'You Can't Stop The Beat' from Hairspray.

01/11/18

In musical theatre we started a choreographed piece to 'Cinema Italiano' from the musical 'Nine'. We sat down and started splitting up the lines, and just ran through the song to make sure we knew the feel and rhythm.

08/11/18 ^

Our teacher was absent, so she set us roles and tasks the week before so that we could polish our work. We ran through what we did in the lessons before, and made sure everything was polished and we all knew what we were doing.

We then gave ideas for the next part of the dance and started to put it together.

Musical Theatre Lesson

We each chose 6 numbers between 1 and 15, and we had to freestyle when our numbers came up. Shannon chose a random song and gave us a word, and we had to use that word to freestyle.

This exercise really helped with everyone's confidence

Acting Lessons

We first read the piece through from punctuation mark to punctuation mark, getting a feel of it. We spoke about how the text made us feel, and how Anne must of felt being trapped in one place for so long.

We then walked around the room, reading it aloud to ourselves. After that, we sat back down and picked a sentence to try and put emotional memory into. I chose a line about clouds, because when I was little I used to go outside, sit on my trampoline and look at the clouds.

Stanislavsky- Introduced a whole new system so that actors could become more real- he wanted them to feel alive on stage.

Emotional memory- using own personal feelings to link to the text and give a more convincing performance.

-Subtext: She talks about happy thinks but the subtext is quite desperate and fearful.

-Sky= the freedom that she longs for.

We performed the pieces and tried to link parts of it to our own emotional memory, giving feedback to each other on different skills we should have shown.
